My name is Dane Carr, I am a 6ft 6”, 225lb shooting guard / small forward – Class 20\21
Since the age of 9, my dream / ambition has been to attend college in USA to further my education and play collegiate basketball and everything I have done since then has been to achieve this goal.
I have played in England's National League for 9 years, earning my teams MVP award for 6 of them (no awards given for 2019/2020 season and 2020/2021 season cancelled))
In 2018, at 16, I left home to attend the top basketball academy in England - Charnwood College for my junior and senior high school years. I left Charnwood College after completing my A-Levels and an Advanced Diploma in Sporting Excellence, and went to Moulton College in England, where i have recently completed a Level 3 Diploma in Principles of Sports Coaching, so I am already adept to the life and requirements of a student athlete.
On the court - Many coaches have told me I have a high basketball IQ and that one of my greatest attributes is that I bring a versatility to my team both offensively and defensively, I am a selfless player who can and will rebound at both ends of the court, and because of my height and build I have the ability to play both low and high post and take a charge on defense, and, on offense, in addition to my shooting ability I can finish strongly and I have a high free throw %
Off the court - as a family, a decision was made to use my college fund, to enable us to survive through the pandemic. I have taken time out of education to work for the family business, to rebuild it to pre pandemic status, this will give me a major insight into the day to day running of a business - and this will stand me in good stead when studying for my business degree. I am also a Level 2 England Basketball coach, so I am currently doing community coaching for Northamptonshire Titans, coaching ages 9 to 16 to give back, whilst still in England
I still have ambitions to play college basketball, and i feel that i would be a great asset to any team. i have played Division 2 basketball in England now for 4 years, the highest level before semi-professional level.
