Personal Statement

My best trait and the trait I value the most is being a hard worker. This translates on and off the court taking A levels which are a tough for 2 years pushed me to further my discipline and attention in the classroom after my Good GCSE results.  Wanting to delve into physiotherapy in the future which is a very competitive course I push myself everyday to stay on top of my books. This work ethic has pushed me to be a great athlete and also a great team leader. This past season my school basketball team reached both the Barnet Cup and league Semi final for the first time In 5 years at my school.  Being the Point Guard I had to lead my team and push my teammates to be in the gym everyday and also stay on top of their class work. This responsibility was given to me by my head coach. Playing Basketball in England is tough with the lack of funding and open courts to practice at my high school PE teacher gave me the opportunity to use our school sports hall before and after school. Despite only training twice a week with the team every other day outside practice I would wake up early at 6 am to get in the gym at 7:15 am before school started at 8:35. After each school day I would be in the gym too working from 3-6 pm before I would go home. This dedication to get better and drive was supported by my teacher since the 9th grade when she let me use the gym freely as she saw how seriously I took the game. Using Basketball to pay and pave the way for me to continue my education in the US would really be a dream come true.  There are many athletes out there looking for the same opportunity but I believe my work ethic in and outside the classroom really separates me from the rest. I hope your program can give me an opportunity to further my study and basketball career in the US. Thanks for reading.
