Hi my name is Harrison Payne - most people call me Harry.
I live in Auckland, New Zealand and I graduated from Rangitoto College in December last year.
I have always wanted the chance to attend College in the US while playing basketball. My parents both traveled while they were young and believe the learnings and opportunities they experienced, along with the friendships they made, are a big part of the people they are today. So I would like this opportunity to be part of my life story.
Ideally I would like to secure a scholarship and am open to join any College in the US.
I played for my High School Premier team for 4 years while at Rangitoto College. In my first season, we won the National Secondary Schools title. The following year we finished runner-up. In 2019 (my final year) we finished 5th.
In 2019, I played for the North Harbour U19 Mens team. We traveled to Phoenix, AZ (warm up tournament) and Dallas TX (GASO). We finished in the top 4 in the top division. Following this we then played in the NZ U19 Men's National's and won Gold.
I have represented New Zealand in U16's, U17's and am a current Junior Tall Black. I also attended the Basketball Without Borders Asia Camp in 2019. Most recently I was an Auckland Huskies development player in the NZ NBL tournament.
As a team player, I believe my basketball IQ is my greatest strength. This allows me to help my team and Coaches make the best decisions on and off the court.
I have a cool head and do not allow the moment or drama to take over my actions and mental focus. This seems to be the main difference I have had in the past over other players.
Thanks for your consideration,
Harry.
