David Nogal '23 Recruiting Profile

I am David Nogal Mendes Pinheiro, I am 17 years old (22/07/2005) and I am from Porto, Portugal.

I play in Valencia Basket, I am a shooting guard and I have been playing Basketball all my life. I have been chasing my dreams of becoming a Professional Basketball player and because of this I have been living alone in Spain since I was 15 years old. This journey led me to this prestigious team and I am very happy to be here. 

But, I need to step up on this matter and I think that going into a college in the USA is one of the best options that I could have to improve in everything in my life. Also, I have been watching the NCAA for the past 4 years and I am really excited to be able to play in such a league.

Now, as a basketball player, I am a sharp shooter, having a maximum of 9 three pointers in a game, I can read the game very well, I am very good at passing the ball to an open teammate and I am 1,88 cm/ 6 feet 2 inches. In my past years in Spain I have been working in defense skills, which have improved drastically. This is a topic that I have been conscious about and I think that such a program would help me with it.

As a student, until the end of the Middle school I was always present in the honor board because of my grades. And even in the passage to high schools my grade did not get lower even though I was in another academic style (Spanish education system). Now, I am in the second year of the IB Diploma program and my grades are still very positive and it is an area that I always commit myself to.

Lastly, but not least, I am very hardworking person (During the three years that I have been in Spain, I was able to practice at 6/7 Am before school and I also try to put in as much work as I can in every free time I have), I am very determined and I am very ambitious. I’m very passionate about the game and about my evolution as a man and as a player.

During this pre-season (2022/2023), I have been playing very well and in four games I have done 27,5 points per game. Never forgetting about the rebounds and the assists to my teammates.
