I am Matthew Tomlinson,
I'm a 5ft 11 point guard for city of Birmingham basketball club,I have played every age group from under 13's-to Division 4 men and next year I am playing for our men's team.I have also attended the Hakeem Olajuwon camp in Birmingham, United Kingdom which is ran by the city of Birmingham basketball club with help from a multitude of coaches one of them being Donte Mathias.
I have represented the West Midlands region in our regional development tournaments since the age of 10.During those years I have had trials for the England u14 and u15 national teams, having not being successful in making the team,I have had trials for the Welsh national team (u16's) in which I made the team however wasn't eligible with my ancestry (approved by fiba).
i left secondary school with all 9 subjects studied at GCSE level with a C and above with 5 A’s. I have currently completed my AS Levels in which I achieved a B in my psychology. In June/may 2019 I will be sitting my A levels in which I am predicted Distinction* distinction* in my sport and a B in psychology.
What makes me different from other recruits is I have been underestimated my whole life from basketball to academics and so given a chance to perform and excel and achieve my goal I will put more work in than anyone to make sure I utilise this opportunity to the best I can. To help me achieve my goal of being able to play basketball for a living but to also be successful and help my team be successful in which ever way I can.
