Personal Statement
Bottom Line Up Front: (BLUF) Achieving high levels of success, via drive, determination, hard work, dedication , respect and humility is my best attribute
I began basketball training at 5 years of age at the insistence of my parents. Also during this time in my young life I was deeply invested in karate. As time persisted I was fully dedicated to both sports and a standout in both! By the time I was 8 years old I had already amassed 13 gold medals in sparring (1 disqualification, after punching too hard) and 14 gold medals in forms. Additionally, at age 8 my Biddy Basketball All Star team won state championship, losing only one game during the season.
While attending Fontainebleau Junior High School in Mandeville, Louisiana I was the only 7th grader playing on the 8th grade team as the point guard . During my 8th grade year as point guard at FBJH we achieved the ultimate success in winning the Parish Championship! The championship had escaped FBJH School for 15 years! Additionally, I was twice selected as MVP at FBJH !! All while taking honors classes and being a constant on the honor roll!
During the summer of my freshman year I tried out for Nike AAU Travel team in New Orleans and was selected over very serious, talented competitors! It was indeed a great experience traveling across the country, going head to head with the best of the best!
Entering in to my high school year at Fontainebleau High School once again I was the only freshman playing point guard on the varsity team. At the end of my freshman year, back on the honor roll, I was presented an opportunity to attend a private school where Academics were at the forefront of the institutions philosophy and their basketball coach was the toughest in the Parish! I jumped at the opportunity!
At Archbishop Hannan High School I was once again the starting point guard as sophomore beating out serious competition for the spot! I led the team in steals, assists, rebounds and scoring ! No point guard on opposing teams recorded more than 3 points as a result of my stifling defense . We went on to win the District championship that year! I received distract award and more importantly remained on the honor roll and was admitted in the National High School Honor Society!
