Phat Nguyen '20 Recruiting Profile

Hi college coaches and scouts. My name is Phat Nguyen, I go by Kevin.  I'm an immigrant, I came from Vietnam at 10 years old. I'm currently living in Amherst Massachusetts. I fell in love with basketball but never had a chance to play until I was 14. Everyone said I was" too small, too short to play basketball, and Asians aren't meant for basketball" so I shouldn't bother playing. I didn't care what they said about me and used it as motivation to get better. My main goal is to be a good student with outstanding grades so I can be successful. I'd be a great candidate for your team because I always work nonstop. I'm an unselfish player who wants what's best for the team. I'm different than other athletes because I started basketball a lot later than all my peers,  and I don't give up. 

I bring a lot to the team like: I'm a lock-down defender, I’m a leader at keeping my teammate's mindset focus, I do what’s best for the team, I'm a spectacular rebounder, I always bring positive energy to the team, I am a shooter, I know how to take the ball to the rack aggressively and draw and 1, I hit crucial free throws, I communicate on both ends of the court, I get back on defense fast, I have a good shot selection, I'm a good passer. I'm special in that I'm a scrappy player, I hustle on defense and dive for every lose ball. These just a few aspects of my game but there are many parts of me that needs improvements. I would be very excited to be a part of an organization that would guide me to improve in academics and athletics so I can be the best Kevin I can.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Thank you for your time.
