Personal Statement
I was born and spent the first 14 years of my life in Eastern Europe before moving to the Boston area. This experience has made me both a different person and a different basketball player than most other potential recruits. As a person and student, I speak 5 languages and have seen much more of the world than my US friends. On the other hand, the US education system is quite different so I've only begun to hit my academic stride this year when I took 6 core classes and had a 4.65 wighted GPA. As a basketball player, there is a lot of emphasis on fundamentals in Europe so I'd like to think of myself as an elite shooter with an excellent feel and understanding of the game (basketball IQ) with very good court vision, passing and ball handling skills. On the other hand, I'm not as strong or athletic as many of the top US born players I see and these are areas I need to develop further.
While it is everyone's dream to be recruited by top Division 1 basketball schools, I want to combine competitive basketball with elite academics to reach my full potential as a person. I could see myself very happy at a strong division III school.
