Kortland Johnsen '22 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to compete at the highest level possible and I understand that means you must strive to improve and get better everyday. I am committed to giving my best energy, effort, and execution in order to help my teammates and myself be successful.   Playing point guard is my passion but,  I am a versatile player and can  jump in at the two and three positions as well. 

My ability to handle the basketball is something that I believe sets me apart from others.  I have been training this skill since I was in second grade and even now with no gym access due to COVID-19, I still make sure to work on my handles in the garage everyday.  I love having the ball in my hands when the game is on the line and I can carve through the defense to make that last second play!  

 Basketball has taught me many life lessons, I am determined to overcome any challenge that may arise all while being a humble competitor. In the classroom I am always diligent about getting my work done on time and I participate in choir... I am a pretty good singer.  

I feel that my basketball pedigree has prepared me to play at the next level.  My parents both played hoops in college, my dad at University of Wisconsin-Madison and my mom at Bemidji State University.  They have instilled the competitive spirit in me and the belief that anything is possible when you work hard and trust in yourself.
