Since I was 6 years old, I have always had a love and passion for basketball. My freshman year was the biggest spark in passion. After the first couple of games, I realized I had to up my game so I could be the best player I could. This was when my work ethic became what it is today. I put in a lot extra hours outside of practice to become a better player. This paid off because many key players got sick and injured, which made me have to step up as a leader. This was when I found out that I could lead a team to keep playing as good as we had. The reward for stepping up as a leader was that we won the MAIS District I Championship.
As my sophomore year approached, I knew had to continue my good work ethic to make and get playing time on the varsity team. I put in countless hours in the gym, working on ball-handling and shooting. The result of this was starting 23 out of 29 games my sophomore year on the varsity team. We had our up and downs throughout the year, and we lost our first playoff game. Now on to my junior year, I will use my great work ethic, special leadership, competitive spirit, and great basketball IQ to help our team make it the closest we can to the MAIS Overall Championship.
