Personal Statement
My high school academic goal is to graduate with a high GPA and obtained a scholarship to attend college. My collegiate goal is to play basketball while obtaining a degree in Agriculture Business. I have been taught to work hard and work well. My family are row crop farmers so I understand what the meaning of hard work is. The standard of work ethic is held high in my family. My mother is a teacher and my step-dad is a farmer which have both taught me that work ethic is important not only in the classroom and on the farm but wherever life takes you. My religion has also helped shape me as an individual. My Catholic faith has made me become a better, stronger individual.
I became interested in basketball during my elementary years. My step-dad became our team coach and really influenced my interest in basketball along with other factors. The sport became very natural for me which in turn made me even more interested. Playing this sport has taught me self-discipline and persistence. It is not an easy sport. I learn new skills every day and have became better as time has passed. I have faced some obstacles during my basketball career. Turn over in coaching staff and a very large growth spurt. My high school career just started in (2017-2018) with a new coach which has been a very positive change. I am transitioning into my height well. I am a good ball handler who can and has played point guard, shooting guard as well as a small forward. I am working on my skills as a power forward as well as post/center. My shot is improving as I am training outside of my school district. In 2019-2020, my Junior year, our family moved closer to our family farm in Advance, Mo. The basketball program is strong with a very dedicated coaching staff. This extra attention to my athletic skills has improved my game tremendously. Now a Senior, I am not ready for my basketball career to stop. I want to learn more, improve more. I am willing to put in the work it takes on a collegiate level.
I am a multi-sport kid who loves basketball. I work hard in both sports while keeping academics a priority. I train every day and look forward to what my future holds.
