Hunter Bailey '24 Recruiting Profile

I believe that I am more myself when I am either running alone or in competition. This is where I found my inspiration and strength. I attend a small, rural high school in an unpopulated state so there are not a whole lot of resources available to me. It is up to me to be self-motivated and to get out and run the local roads and trails by myself every day. This has taught me discipline and self-reliance. I know I must push myself if I want to be the best. No one else can do it for me. I have been blessed to Co-op with a town that is an hour and a half away for Cross Country, so often it is up to me to get up and put in the work. I am the top varsity mid-distance runner on my high school track team, and I know this has everything to do with my strong inner purpose and my deep love of running. Athletic ability matters but running is also about character. It's about who is committed and dedicated enough to put in the miles, even when it's a freezing cold Montana winter morning and you would rather stay in bed.  I pay close attention to my coach's advice and my record of consistent improvement this past track season tells the story.  

 I believe that you can have all the success in the world, but it is just as important to have a positive impact to those around you and to your community.  I strive to be the best but what does that mean if you are at the top alone. That’s why I also strive to be a positive influence and give as much passion to my team, family, friends, church, and community helping in many extra activities. I also enjoy several other activities such as football, basketball, golf, hunting and fishing.
