Personal Statement
Dear College Coaches,
I am a 6’ 3” and still growing) rising sophomore with an unmatched work ethic. I embody amazing qualities both on and off the court, including but not limited to the community and classroom.
Student life and grades are extremely important and I take both very seriously. I understand that if you are not amazing in the classroom being on the court does not matter. My tenacity on the basketball court, whether practice or a game is just a small example of what my coaches enjoy about me- I show up and I am consistent in my efforts to improve!
As a perimeter player, I enjoy scoring from all areas of the floor and possess a strong inside/outside game and delight in an occasional post move during miss-matches.
I'm a big family guy in an extremely loving and caring environment. My mother (6’0 small forward) played high level Division I basketball for NC State and played in the NCAA Final Four; she was an AAU All-American, Nike All-American and was the Gatorade Player of the Year for the State of NJ (1996). She has been inducted into several basketball/athletic Hall of Fame classes in the last decade. She is also a professional bodybuilder for the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB).
My father (6’3” Defensive End) played Division 1 football at the University of Miami where he won several bowls and was later drafted to the NFL and played 4 and a half years before he decided to retire; he once played in the Super-bowl -What a legacy!
My parents have instilled the phrase “Leadership and Excellence” into my siblings and I and they have a low tolerance for anything less.
In closing, I look forward to exploring any opportunities to see if your college/university is compatible with my academic and athletic goals.
Sincerely,
Jahaan H. Green, Class of 2024
