Over the course of my life, basketball has been very important to me. I first became interested in basketball at the age of five by watching the New Jersey Nets. I loved watching Jason Kidd and the way that he played the game. Once I was hooked I started watching as many games as I could whether it was NBA games, NCAA games, high school games and games at my own school. The game has both reinforced those things I have learned at home from my parents and taught me values and lessons that I will carry with me as I move towards the realization of my goals. It has taught me about hard work, how to be a team player and above all loyalty and respect for my school, coaches, teammates and opponents. I have been fortunate to have really good coaches in my life from an early age that have helped to instill these values into me and who have stayed an important part of my life as I have progressed as a person and player. I believe that one of my strengths is that I am a very good public speaker. I have been asked to represent my school on several occasions at various open houses to recruit students to my high school and have been commended for the way I carried myself and represented the school. As a player my primary position is point guard. I feel that my strengths as a player include court vision, ball handling, shooting and passing. A couple of my goals when I play are to make everyone around me better and get them to play as a team. On an academic level at Bishop Ahr High School, I want to finish with an overall GPA of 3.0 to make myself eligible for as many competitive college programs possible. From a basketball perspective I want to help my program win a division and county championship. During the offseason between my junior and senior years for my varsity high school team, I will continue to play for my AAU team and compete throughout the East Coast at various college showcases and other tournaments. I also plan to resume my offseason strength and conditioning program in order to improve my speed, agility and core strength. Lastly I will be working out with my personal basketball trainer to improve my overall skills as I prepare for my senior season. In college I plan to major in Sports Management so I can work in a field that would allow me to stay connected to my love of sports in a professional capacity with one goal becoming a high school or college basketball coach. Basketball is my passion and I want to continue playing the game as long as I can on a competitive level, and giving back to it everything it has given me.
