My name is Joe Cetrullo and I was a Senior starting point guard for Manchester Regional High School in Haledon, New Jersey. Last season our team finished with a 16-4 record and we won our conference. This was not easy since we play a tough conference and it was the first time in 8 years since that happened. My team honored me with MVP and I led the team in assists, scoring, 3 point shot and steals, as well earning these top categories for Passaic County. I graduated in June 2008, and have been working hard towards my goal of playing College ball since I can remember. I am a true Point Guard, and at 5'8' I have always had to prove myself to team mates, opponents and Coaches. Since my size is usually viewed as a weakness, I have to believe that my size as well as my athleticism is a blessing, helping to motivate me to prove myself every time I step on the court. I focus on team leadership, always trying to motivate my team mates to work together for the ultimate team goal of victory. I have the mentality of looking for the best pass and shoot when needed. Last Year during our senior assembly, my Coach spoke to the school and said if he had to say the first things that come to mind when thinking of me are, 'Heart, toughness and I played defense from the 1st second of the game to the last second regardless of the score.' Throughout High School my grades have been average, and for this reason and some others, I have opted to attend Apex Basketball Academy in Pennsauken, New Jersey for a Post graduate year. I believe with the extra year, it will help me develop my body, my skills and I brought up my SAT and core GPA, putting me in the best possible position to be recruited to a 4 year College at the highest level I am able. The next year will have a tremendous impact on my future aspirations of playing College ball and I hope I will have the opportunity to be considered in 2009 as a student and a player. I will close by summing up in one sentence about how I feel about this game. I want to be playing basketball, now until I am an old man playing at the YMCA. Respectfully, Joe Cetrulo
