I've been playing basketball since I was 7. Now I'm 17 and it's still the thing I absolutely love to do most. Although I'm a solid student, I simply can't imagine going to a college where basketball is not a core part of my life. I am not making a backup plan that doesn't include the game I love.
While I'm considered a really strong all-around player, something that makes me different is that I particularly enjoy playing defense. I believe great defense wins championships! I've been told for years that I am very coachable and that I effectively use feedback to constantly improve. I'm a team player who genuinely wants to make everyone better and get everyone involved. While people have said I'm naturally athletic ever since I was a toddler, I know it's hard work that makes for success - and I am a 120% player!
In the 2023-24 season, for example, I played for BOTH my varsity and my JV teams at my school, Don Bosco Prep. To do this, I had to do all of the practices for BOTH teams (up to 4 hours each night). But the payoff was exciting. Both teams went all the way... with Varsity winning the State Championship - and JV winning the County championship with an undeafeated season. Of course as a Sophomore in an elite program, my court time was quite limited on Varsity but the learning opportunity was terrific. As a usual starter and core contributor, it was great to also be a big part of the JV team's terrific success.
This year at Ridgewood, we had the school's winningest season ever (26-4)! Among the things to celebrate: Sectional Champs, BCCA Team of the Year, undefeated in league play, ranked #3 in North Jersey and #18 in the State. With 8 of 15 players seniors, I was proud as a junior (and new to the team) to get minutes in virtually every game (first or second off the bench).. and to do my part to answer the call for whatever the team needed to succeed!
