Throughout my life, I have played many sports: Soccer, Track, Skiing, Basketball, Taekwondo, Tennis, and even Marching Band. These different experiences formed my preferable sports. Team sports, like Basketball, soccer, and Marching band, teach me to thrive as a team, and it is refreshing as people come together and work cohesively to beat another team. Unlike the sports listed previously, Skiing, Tennis, Track, and Taekwondo are "individual team sports" because we compete individually yet essentially work as a team.
Throughout my freshman year, I was the starting point guard for the freshman team at my high school and averaged around 10 points per game. However, at the beginning of the season, I was nowhere near as confident as I was towards the end, scared to handle the ball and score points. The reason for my success is because of my teammates, who lifted me and helped me gain the right mentality I needed to help us win more games. This year, I earned my 1st-year varsity letter for track, as a long jumper and the only male freshman varsity player, but I would not be able to achieve this if it weren't for the seniors and more experienced teammates. Additionally, during my marching band season, we got 1st place in the all-state competition for the first time in school history, earning a varsity letter for our hard work. Overall, my experience in sports this year will help me prepare for future opportunities.
