Alejandro Fessel '25 Recruiting Profile

I have always loved to play basketball.  I have played it with family and friends from as far back as I can remember.  Today I play for my high school (Vernon Township High School - VTHS) and with my AAU teammates Spring, Summer and Fall.  I started as a Varsity player in my Freshman year.  With a high IQ for how the game is played, I am an effective point guard.  I intend to go as far with basketball as I possibly can.  I am thankful that I can play this game that I love.  

Coach Healy had his first winning season my Freshman year.  The next year VTHS basketball had the highest winning season in the history of the program.  We had a thrilling time working together to achieve that.  In 2023/24 we have moved up to a tougher league of play.  Our win-loss record declined but the opportunity to play against better quality teams has only helped to improve our game. That year VTHS won the tri-county (Hunterdon/Sussex/Warren) championship.  That was a first time ever for our program.  My teammates and I were honored to be a important part of our school's history.    

2024 was the first year that VTHS basketball went past the first post season sectional game.  We did well post season.  We made it to the Sectional title game but lost by a small score.  I was the highest scorer for both teams in that game.  For 2025 it is back to VTHS for my senior year.  We will rebuild our team once again after losing two very good senior players from last year.  

Basketball is very important to me but I understand there are other important issues in life.  I do have a plan B.  For now it involves keeping my grades up so that I have academic options open to me.  I don't have a specific alternate career selected.  What I can say about myself is that the transition from Sophomore to Junior year was significant for me.  As I entered the Junior year I became a young man, leading a basketball team, and understanding the responsibilities I have to myself and those around me.  I take school work much more seriously now.  Socially I remain engaged and friendly with my classmates.  I enjoy many friendships around school.  I choose to stay out of politics and conflicts.  Instead I do what I love best - play the greatest game. 

For my Junior to Senior year transition I chose to make some adjustments.  I am working at a local supermarket this past summer and 1st marking period this year.  I adjusted my number of classes downwards but participate more fully in each class.  I have straight A's for the first time in my time at high school this past marking period.  Soon I will stop the employment but then start basketball season.  We are hoping for a season even better than last year.
