Evan Waldbauer '25 Recruiting Profile

Ever since I could walk, I had a ball in my hand. From t-ball to little league to Bayport-Blue Point (BBP) Varsity baseball. From pee-wee football to PAL football to back-to-back BBP Long Island Football Championships. From basketball church leagues and travel to BBP Varsity Basketball Suffolk County League Six Finalists. I have been a committed athlete always looking to contribute to the team effort while taking my game to the next level. I respect and honor the coaches who have guided me along the way and appreciate the support of my family who have dedicated their time coaching me in youth sports, taking me on my travel sports journeys along the East Coast, helping me to fundraise and sit on the sidelines, always cheering me and my teammates on.  We are a small community, the BBP Phantoms, and yet I feel like I have the biggest extended family through all of my sports connections. That is something I value greatly, a tight-knit community with a lot of heart and spirit. This past Varsity basketball season, I suffered a near season-ending broken nose about halfway through. The outpouring of support and outreach from my teammates, their families, and my fall and winter coaches helped me through a difficult time both physically and mentally as it was at this time that I had decided to pursue basketball as the sport that I would strive to play in college.  I am a basketball player with skill and heart! The importance of becoming a scholar-athlete was also instilled in me at a young age. So while I always had a ball in my hand, I always had a book in the other. I am proud of my academic accomplishments and have found success in the important balance between my studies, sports, and extracurriculars. I am excited about the endless opportunities that lie ahead for me and I am looking forward to finding that just right college that becomes another part of my extended family while offering me an enriching space to learn and grow as an athlete, a student, a young man, and good citizen.
