Like many kids I started playing sports at a young age. I played soccer, baseball, and basketball. From the start basketball was my favorite. I have always enjoyed the teamwork. For example, how much each player counts, and how we depend on each other every minute of the game. Basketball taught me to work hard and never let my team down. After playing for many years with my AAU team across the east coast and winning multiple championship including Nationals in 2021 at the AAU World Championships in Orlando, FL., I was injured. I tore my ACL during practice and could not play my freshman year. I was very disappointed but worked hard through recovery, and a few months later I was back to playing. I played AAU during the summer that year and made the varsity team my sophomore year. I was happy to be playing again but did not feel my knee was 100%. I later found out I had torn the same ACL again at some point. This was devastating, I was going to sit another year. I had to stop doing the one thing I enjoyed the most. There were many difficult moments but my love for the game drove me to work even harder. I focused on getting my body and mind stronger than before. Now in my senior year, I am team captain and a starter. My injuries have taught me humility and a great appreciation for every minute I get to play basketball. I am confident that my experiences have giving me the resilience, determination and courage to play at the college level. I would like to someday have my own business or be part of my father construction company.
