Marcus Garcia '24 Recruiting Profile

    Hi, my name is Marcus Garcia. I am a Senior at Queens Technical High School in Queens, New York. I am a very humble and determined individual looking for an opportunity to continue to play and enjoy the game of basketball, while obtaining a great education. My life has improved as a result of my love of the sport of basketball. Basketball serves as both a form of therapy and a diversion for me. I want to continue playing collegiate basketball while achieving both my academic and athletic objectives. That being said, I am aware that in order to excel academically and in basketball I must put forth my absolute best effort. Whether it's by supporting after-school programs with food and toy drives or helping my coaches manage practice for the younger players, I enjoy serving my community and supporting those around me. To me attending multiple workouts a day is not considered to be difficult work. Instead, I view it as a job that I genuinely enjoy doing. I consider myself to be very mature for my age and think that I effectively exhibit many of the qualities that characterize a successful young adult. I've always wanted to be able to provide for my family and make them proud, and I understand that basketball is a means for me to do so. Being the last person to leave the gym and working up a sweat before practice are examples of my persistent work ethic which I take special pride in. I will continue to strive to find a school that can assist me in my journey to becoming the best basketball player I can be as well as provide an environment in which I can succeed academically.
