My name is Joshua Scovens and I am a very hard-working scholar athlete. I am an A A/B honor student and currently taking honors and college courses. I have maintained my grades while attending 6am workouts, after school basketball practices, and personal training each day. My academics are important to me and has required me to stay persistent, focused, loyal, determined and committed. I have a high acuity for basketball. I also have a deep passion and love for the game of basketball because it has taught me discipline. It is discipline that has taught me not only to be a scholar athlete and leader in the classroom but on the basketball court as well. Discipline is what I have learned from the game of basketball, my parents, my coaches and trainers that have spent countless number of hours investing in my craft/skill. It is this discipline that inspires me. I have seen that it leads to success; not only in accomplishments, but it also helps me to digest what may seem to be a failure, or a setback. It is then that discipline reminds me that there is always another day or another step that may lead me to achieve my greatest desires. I am the missing piece that any team would love to recruit because of my quality traits of high character, flexibility, adaptability, leadership, positive influence, and abilities to overcome challenges. To possess these characteristics, I must first have discipline.
