Personal Statement
Playing basketball has helped me grow as a person, not just as an athlete. Basketball was my go-to for dealing with stressors as a young person and helped me deal with the isolation and unknowns of COVID shutdowns and restrictions. I have trained one-on-one with a basketball trainer since I was eight years old. Working with a trainer helped me learn the mental aspects of the game and how to play defense against my toughest opponent - myself. I trained independently, worked on my nutrition, and started a strength training program while my school and basketball leagues were shut down by local and national COVID restrictions. I emerged from those shutdowns a bigger, stronger, more skilled basketball player.
I value academics and want to play for a school that emphasizes the "student" in student-athlete. I am a quiet leader and lead by example. I am committed to my team and my teammates and I have the work ethic to prove it. I look forward to playing at the collegiate level.
