Personal Statement

Dear College Coach/Coaches,

My name is Terrell Davis, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my enjoyment of basketball with you.

Although basketball was not my first sport, it has become my greatest love. Last year, my team finished 3rd in our district, and we made it to the state tournament but fell short of our goal. This summer, we played against bigger schools and managed to win against 2A, 3A, and 4A schools, which helped me build my confidence and improve my production.

I spent most of my summer in the gym, practicing and honing my skills. I have a deep passion for the game, and I am always looking for ways to improve. I watch NBA players and trainers learn new techniques, and I owe my improved shooting skills to the countless hours I spent practicing. My coaches had a big hand in my development cleaning up my shot and other techniques that I will always remember.  I owe so much to them and anyone else that has a hand in my ever-so-evolving life!

I have excellent self-awareness, which helps me on the court. I learn plays quickly and understand everyone's role, which enables me to know where people are and where they will be. My family is everything to me, and they have supported me in every way possible.

I have well-defined skills on defense, improved my shooting percentages, and made quicker decisions this year. I was honored to receive the 2nd Team All-League award as well as Team Defensive Player of the Year for a 2nd year in a row, and I am proud of how my skills have translated to on-court production.

I am a great student, and I love to learn and implement those lessons. I am looking for a college that can help me achieve my goals and is willing to challenge me. I believe that having confidence and belief in oneself builds character and keeps you humble. In school, I feel I need to challenge myself or I will not enjoy or feel any progress in life with the time spent. I want to always better myself and beat my own expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am excited about the opportunity to play for your team and contribute to the success of the program.

Sincerely,

Terrell Davis
