Personal Statement
My collegiate goals are to obtain a bachelor's degree in communications while utilizing a full ride basketball scholarship. After that, I would like to continue with my basketball career if possible, or begin a career in sports broadcasting. At some point in my late 20's, I would like to start a family. What makes me a good candidate for any college team is my understanding of a team role and my selflessness. I realized early that it takes a team to achieve true greatness and to put my personal accomplishments second to the success of the team. Another characteristic that would make me a good fit for a collegiate program is my tireless work ethic. Ever since I was younger, I have worked daily towards my life-long goal of being a college basketball player.
With regards to my character, I feel as though I have many valuable aspects that would set me apart from your typical basketball player. I have been told I am a highly coachable player as well as a natural team leader in a motivational way. From the time I was young, I have always loved the idea of helping people. I have been called a likable person with a level head and a logical thinker. One last characteristic that I would like to point out is my perseverance that I carry in all aspects of life. I believe that any difficult situation one faces can be turned into a positive and successful experience.
On the court, my coaches depend on me to break the full court press and then set up our offensive series. At 6'4', I am my teams three-point shooting guard and have many plays specifically designed for me to score from anywhere on the court. Our opponents recognize this threat and often design their defense to try and prevent my scoring. My coaches also depend on me to defend our opponent's best player.
I have always recognized and prioritized my schooling and have proudly maintained a base GPA of 3.96. I have also worked just as hard if not harder on the court and have developed a skillset that has allowed me to play any position on the court as well as adapt to any situation that I or my team may face.
