Personal Statement
I started out playing football at age 5 to freshman year but I have been playing basketball since I was 8 years old. I fell in love with the game immediately. I would watch and study the NBA players and what they did. I then would try to copy the style of play I was mostly like already and practiced until I was able to do the move consistently. I played bantam basketball in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade when a coach put a select athletic group of kids together and we have been playing together through it all Bantam, AAU, and school ball. My teammates are not just teammates they are family, before games I would call my teammates to prepare mentally for games. If someone was not having a good game, I would pick them up with some positive aspirations and vice versa. Loving the competition, fast play of the game. Being a part of something bigger than me and my teammates is one of my goals. My basketball skills are a constant work in progress. I can play defense; I can also score from all three levels pretty efficiently.
I am very ambitious and competitive on and off court when it comes to setting goals and striving for greatness whether is on the court or in the classroom. I work even harder in the classroom especially if it's a subject I don't partially care for. I am an individual who likes to prepare mentally for whatever life throws at me and can sometimes become a weakness by getting stuck in my head. This is something I work on every single day.
I also enjoy volunteering my time being a referee for our youth in house basketball league and coaching at youth basketball camps.
Perusing both my passions learning about the human body with a health science degree and eventually getting into a DPT program and basketball is the perfect balance to the mind-body connection. I am an overachiever when it fuels my passion. I ultimately want to find the right college match and the best level of competition possible to achieve my aspirations.
