I was born and raised in Round Rock, TX and started out playing all sports but basketball became my favorite early on. I have been playing basketball for my select team (Rim Rockers) since 5th grade. After playing football and basketball in middle school, I decided to focus on basketball in high school. I continue to work at the game year round, increasing my skill level and learning from numerous coaches and trainers.
I always knew I wanted to attend college whether basketball was going to happen or not but I truly would love the opportunity to do both. I know how important a college degree is and I also know how incredible being part of a team can be so want to continue that. As for my academic aspirations, I am interested in business, marketing and sports management so that's important that I find a school with those opportunities.
I also am strongly pulled towards a smaller campus where class sizes are small and there is a strong sense of community with plenty of opportunities.
I feel that I can be an asset to any team that covets someone that is a blue collar player that is unselfish with a great basketball IQ. If you talk to my coaches or even other players I've competed with over the years I think they would all agree that I'm a player you can trust on and off the court. I know that I can affect the game in many different ways and I'm not concerned about being "that guy" that gets 25 points because he's taking a shot every time down the court. I'm more concerned that I am productive when on the court and that the team is doing what it takes to win the game.
One example of where I acted differently than how most others would, was this school year. My varsity school coach pulled me aside before the season started and told me that he will have 8 seniors on the team and that I could play varsity but my minutes would be limited. The other option was to start on JV and get lots of playing time. I chose to play JV and we had a very successful season, played lots of minutes and worked on my game and leadership skills. The other junior that was given the same opportunity as I chose Varsity and I think he ended up playing a couple minutes a game all season and averaged 2 points. I feel I made the correct decision for me and my game.
In my off time from school and select basketball I have a great core group of friends that I hang out with. They are all very active and so it's usually basketball, tennis, football, golf or fishing that we tend to find ourselves doing. Sunday's are usually family days when we try to get everyone together for dinner before the start of the new week.
In a nutshell, I feel I'm a pretty well rounded kid that is excited about college and playing ball for somewhere that is the right fit!
