Ever since I was little basketball has been my dream. But as I grew up, I found how many purposes it had served aside from being a player. I've learned so much from this sport and that's just why I want to pursue it. This year was a blessing for me, I knew my goals, and I knew what I wanted to accomplish. Sure I fell a little short, but it still meant a lot for what I ended up with. I got some big time awards while also being a team captain, and it meant the world I could help my team reach the best record ever recorded in school history. Im just so thankful for this sport and the drive I've adapted from it to go out and accomplish my goals. It's taught me accountability, leadership, gratefulness, and that's just a few. I really learned how to be a great person in this sport in the fact that I wasn't just worried about what I did on the court. But off of it too.
Keeping my grades up was always important to me in high school. But what I really learned was how big of an impact you can have in this sport. So many people look up to you, especially when you're winning games, and it's amazing the stuff you can accomplish. One act in the community I served this year was for my birthday, I took the money I got and spent it on presents for some kids I know in the local peer tutor class that have special needs. These kids would come to games and watch just so they could talk to me after, it would melt my heart. Anyways it wasn't huge, but it was a couple hundred dollars of shoes and gear I gave to them. And I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. The look on their faces they had was unbelievable, and that was true happiness in the realm of what I was feeling that moment. I'm so thankful for this sport and all the opportunities it's given and I am ready to continue it at the next level of my life.
