Mark Melbourne '18 Recruiting Profile

"Teamwork is the beauty of basketball. Five people working as one. You become selfless."  That quote from Coach Mike Krzyzewski has stuck with me and has helped to shape my approach to basketball throughout my high school career.  I hope to be able to continue to practice this philosophy on a collegiate basketball team.  Ball distribution, ball movement, speed, IQ and heart are the strongest elements of my game.  I value brotherhood and teamwork.  I thrive on hard work and grit.  Most importantly, I am coachable, learn quickly and strive to carry out my coaches' instructions on the court.  

Off the court, I study hard and volunteer in my community.  Civic engagement is very important to me.  I have served as a volunteer/mentor for The Children's Science Center in Virginia and as an intern for both Camp Congress for Boys and Smithsonian's National Museum of American History Youth Leadership & Civic Engagement Program in their inaugural year.
