I live in Olney, MD and attend the The Potomac School in Mclean, VA. I am a long 6'4, athletic and heady guard with a 6'9 wingspan. I am a very good defender, and because of my length and "Defense First" mentality, I am able to cause a lot of problems on the defensive end. Defense is important to me because I know that great defense can lead to great offense. To me an important block or steal, is just as important as a clutch shot or exciting dunk.
On the offensive end, I am a very versatile player. I have a high Basketball IQ and understanding of the game. As a result, I do a great job of leading the break, seeing the floor, and finding an open teammate for a score, or being able to find a shot for myself. I shoot the ball very well which is the result of countless hours in the gym fine tuning my shot . This summer, leading into my senior year, I worked extremely hard on my handles, attacking the basket, and finishing at the rim, so that I am not pigeon holed as just "a shooter." Because of this work, over the summer I reached my goal and became a critical player for my high school team and AAU teams.
I am also a very coachable player. I am a student of the game which includes learning from my coaches. Getting feedback from my coaches is an imperative to me. Last year, I spent many hours talking to my coach, watching film, and critiquing my play, looking ways to continue to improve on the court, mentally and physically. I am a very hard worker and when I put my mind to something, I am going to achieve it.
I transferred to Potomac for my Junior and Senior years; not because it was easy, but because it was a challenge that I knew would make me a better person. Because Potomac is such a rigorous academic institution, and the MAC is such a talent rich basketball conference, I believe this epitomizes my character on and off the court. It shows that I am not afraid of a challenge, and that I understand my priorities.
My competitiveness, my desire to win, and my love of the game are why I crave to play in college. I want to compete against the top competition, while becoming the best player I can be.
