Hello, my name is Joshua R. Poole. I am currently a 10th grader at Atlee High School in Hanover County, VA.
At the age of five my dad introduced me to the game of basketball. Overtime, I grew to love the game and hope to eventually play at the collegiate level. My personal goal is to be the best player I can be. I consider myself to have the skills to play both as a defensive player and an offensive player. My strongest skill is being an all-around player on both sides of the ball due to my experience playing all five positions. I have strong defense, ball handling, finishing, and shooting skills. I'm a hard-working athlete and willing to work to earn or keep a spot. That’s what motivates me.
I work hard year-round to develop my basketball skills. I believe in practicing like you play. So, I work just as hard at practice as I do playing an actual game. I continue to work hard during the off-season with my trainers to develop my skills and enhance my level of play. Currently, I am the leading scorer on both the Atlee high school junior varsity and the Hanover Youth Basketball 10-12 grade teams averaging 20 points per game. I consider myself to be a team player and a leader. As a teammate I constantly push myself and my teammates to perform at the highest level possible. I bring energy to the team on the court and on the bench.
As a student athlete I have learned to push through adversity on the basketball court and in the classroom. Basketball has taught me that even when things don’t go the way I plan, I have to keep fighting to reach my goal of becoming a collegiate student athlete. Although it has been a struggle at times, I am learning how to achieve a balance between my academics and playing basketball.
Other than basketball I have developed a love for graphic design and animation. I enjoy working with the Adobe Suite of applications, including Photoshop and Illustrator. After college I hope to pursue a career in this field.
