June 2020
My mom says that I was an unmanageable, climbing daredevil as a kid. I guess those were my first attempts at channeling my competitive energy.
I have been involved in sports since as soon as I could walk. As the youngest sibling in a family full of athletes, I was wrestled, tackled, and teased as long as I can remember. I began to compete in gymnastics and football at 8. I was "removed" from competitive gymnastics because I was taller than my coach at 10, and I moved right into basketball, where tallness was not a problem, as a replacement sport. I have played basketball and football at a high level ever since.
No matter what I do, I want to win. I bring energy to my teams and am not afraid to tell my teammates that I need more from them. I can be fun and play jokes on my teammates (or coaches) and I can be serious.
I am a starter on my AAU/Club team, JH1 Elite. We play at a very high-level basketball and earned 6th at the highest level AAU Nationals in 2019. Unfortunately, we were unable to travel as a team in 2020 (COVID) and are beginning our season with Midwest only events just now.
I was a starter on varsity as a Freshman, which was an honor, but also came with some challenges. It was tough to prove myself to my teammates, but I think, in the end, I won their respect. We made it to regionals in my freshman year and I am very excited to see what this year will bring.
I take my desire to succeed and win to the classroom as well. I take school seriously and was in one advanced class as a Freshman and am enrolled in 2 advanced classes as a Sophmore. I am looking for a college that high a competitive academic environment as well as a world-class athletic program.
In my spare time, I play different sports. I enjoy golf and wakeboarding, but I will challenge you to almost any game where there is the opportunity to win or where you can keep score.
