Since the first day of practice I've loved the game of basketball. I grew up playing many sports but basketball has always been my favorite. It did help that I had a early grow spurt ,but as the years went on the love for the game stuck with me. I don't remember ever being as excited as I was the day my Dad put up my basketball hoop and bought me a ball. Growing up I found out that basketball was more than a sport to me.
It started out as a fun game during the summer to keep me busy ,but slowly grew into much, much more. When I started getting frustrated with home work around seventh grade year, I'd grab that ball and go clear my mind. I remember being yelled at more than once to get out of the drive way and go finish my homework. Then came eighth grade summer... My parents got a divorce that summer and it wasn't easy. I'd get so upset and so lost in my emotions that I wouldn't know what to do. Then i'd grab that basketball, tears in my eyes, and i'd go shoot.
As a sophomore I was able to be part of a state qualifying basketball team. We ended up being runner up and that pushes me to be ready for the next season. I also practiced along side of three college level athletes. During that season I found out what it takes to make it to the next level. Seeing the effort you need to give pushes me everyday in the gym to give it all I have. I also know what it takes academically. My goal academically in high school is to finish top five in my class. I know the importance of school and will work just as hard in class as I will at practice. Basketball is in my blood and I'd love to keep playing through college.
