Personal Statement
I started my basketball career later than most, joining my first team in sixth grade. Before this, I focused my time on earning my first degree black belt in Taekwondo. It was a high school coach who saw how tall I was, and he suggested I start playing basketball. Since then, I have put in a lot of time learning the game and developing my skills. I am proud that within two seasons, I was recruited to play on an elite Nike-circuit AAU team and made the varsity team as a freshman. I went from just being interested in the sport, to having it be a passion of mine.
None of this would have happened, of course, if I did not have support. My parents and brother have done a lot to work with me in the driveway, take me to training, practices and games, and help me succeed in the classroom. My trainers and coaches also continue to challenge me and help me to grow as an athlete and as a student. I owe a lot to all these important people in my life - especially my mom, dad, brother, basketball trainer, strength trainer and my AAU coaches. I am excited to compete at the highest level in high school, and then continue my work at the collegiate level. I am ready to play for your program and bring my leadership, drive and dedication to your team.
