Personal Statement
I am a junior at Talawanda High School in Oxford, Ohio home of Miami University. I would love to attend & compete for a Division 1 University, while obtaining a Business Degree with an emphasis in Marketing or Recruitment.
I have had the privilege to train at the Rec Center pool at Miami University under Coach KR (Kong Rong) Li. He has allowed me to compete in such events as the Miami Invitational, since age 14, where I have competed along side The Chinese National Team, UK, OSU, University of Cincinnati and many other universities. I have also trained with former Olympic Coach; John Wingfield, at Ripfest. I spent my freshman year living in student housing; training full time, managing my own meals, grocery shopping, laundry & academics. This past summer, KR arranged a training trip, allowing me to live & train with the Chinese National Team for 8 weeks! Training 6 days a week for roughly 60 hours! I am a great candidate because I am positive, up-beat, not afraid to push myself to learn new & challenging dives. My coaches always tell me I am very "coachable". I like meeting new people, traveling & have the ability to encourage my team mates, always pushing them to believe in themselves!! I work very hard in & out of the classroom in my pursuit for excellence!
I also love to lead, Coach KR will often asks me to assist other divers & new divers to help them feel a part of our team. I will assist when a diver is learning a new skill or dive. I lead our dryland & have organized personal training for our club outside of our club hours!!
My love of diving drives me & has taught me a lot about discipline, time management, how to overcome failure, all around personal growth & development. I am looking for new experiences & challenges on & off the board in college!
