Personal Statement

My name is Cody Moore and I am currently living in Snowflake, Arizona.  I have lived in California, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota and Arizona.  My family traveled for much of my early years, as my father finished college and worked for the National Football League (KC Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings) and at a law firm that did legal work for professional sports franchises. Living in several parts of the United States has made me comfortable with living in many different places, having new experiences and wanting to have a great experience as a student and athlete in college.

I am an analytical and focused person.  I am also very competitive.  I care deeply about my family, faith, team and my friends.  I am situationally charming, and can function very well in large groups. Wasting anything, especially time, is very frustrating for me.

I am an awesome teammate, and I do what it takes to help my team win.  I enjoy sports of all kinds, and I have played football (QB, WR, LB), basketball (FWD, G) and golf in high school.  In my junior year, I committed myself to playing golf only, focusing on my academics, and working for a position in a college golf program.

I am looking for an academic and athletic opportunity that has the scholastic environment, coaching system and other assets that will enhance my development quickly.  I want to be in a golf program that will expose the weaknesses in my game, particularly the mental aspects, but also mentor me in a way that will be constructive, rigorous and effective.

  • 5/15/21 to 5/16/21
  • I finished 10th in this tournament. I feel that the lack of practice that I had had due to the amount of competitive golf I was participating in was the difference of how I performed at this event.
  • Camp/Event
  • AIA DIII State Championship
  • 5/10/21 to 5/11/21
  • This was my first state championship competition at the very nice Omni course in Tuscon. It was a 2 day, 36 hole competition. The first day, I shot an 82/70, I made a few too many small mistakes that really hurt my score. Day 2, I went into the round with some determination to fix the mistakes of the day prior and to pull my weight for my team. I played a quality round of golf, I was +3 thru 15 holes, then I made a bad tee shot on 16 that ultimately got me to +5 thru 16. I made par on 17, then made bogey on the 18th to finish out my junior season with a 76/70. I ended T21. I was very happy with how I played but those last holes gave me some motivation going into the off season.
  • Camp/Event
  • Metro Invitational Golf Tournament
  • 5/01/21 to 5/01/21
  • Going into this competition, I was not happy with how I had been performing in prior events so I focused up on what I had to do to score low. This was a 1 day, 18 hole competition. I played quality golf, playing my misses, and intently identifying the trouble that was on the course and avoiding it. I heavily focused on achieving as many greens in reg that I could, this majorly improved my score. With a chip-in for eagle on 15, and a chip-in for birdie out of a bunker on 16, I had gained a lot of confidence which helped me finish out my lowest 18 hole score at that point, 74/72. I placed T7 which I was very happy about.
  • Camp/Event
  • Desert Mashie championship
  • 3/20/21 to 3/21/21
  • This was a 2 day, junior golf tournament. I finished 54th with a 89/72 the first day and an 84/72 the second day . It was a good learning experience, to know what I was struggling with and that really helped me understand what I had to work on.
  • Camp/Event
  • Boulder City champ
  • 2/27/21 to 2/28/21
  • This was my first 2-day junior tournament that was non-school related. I finished 17th with scores of 93, and a 91 on a par 72 course.
