My name is Colin Lynch, I go to Mountain View High School in Tucson, Arizona. I am in the Class of 2024 and beyond my High School Team qualifying and winning state, as well as myself personally, my next goal is to play golf at the next level. I started when I was little with my Dad taking me to the range and golf course and did not really take it seriously until the Pandemic. With school being cancelled, I started playing weekly with my Mom’s boss and my game took off from there. I was fortunate to make my High School team as a Freshman and grave lettered all three years.
After my Jr. Season I was invited by Brian Volmer with Scotland Junior Golf Invitational to represent the USA in matches against Scottish High School players in Scotland, and will be there from June 18 - 27, 2023. This is a trip that my dad is making with me and while I am very excited for the trip and playing where golf started, I am humbled by the opportunity and very grateful that my parents have have supported me financially to be able to this.
I started working with Corey Baehman in Jr. High and he has helped me take my swing and mental game to where it is today, and I feel confident it is trending better and better each day. I am a member at El Conquistador Golf Club and play and practice at least 5 days a week for a minimum of 2 hours a day, with most days being 3 or more. In addition to strength training in High School, I have recently starting strength and mobility training at MOTUS here in Tucson, which is a 100% golf focused program.
I live with my parents (Jamie and Kristin), older brother (Aden) and our dog (Noodles). I have been so fortunate to have parents that support me and have been to most of my games, matches and tournaments. Our family is very close and would consider us to be a fun loving family, that prefers to laugh and enjoy each opportunity.
I currently carry a 3.6 GPA and I know I would be an asset to any program…I am simply looking for the right opportunity and look forward to speaking with coaches to see where I would fit in best.
Over this past summer, I had the opportunity given to me to travel overseas and play golf in Scotland. Thanks to my dad, the trip was a once in a lifetime experience. I got to meet new people and make new friends. I experienced true links style golf, and got to play at 8 different courses. I averaged 74 through all eight rounds, and was pleased but I knew I could do better. I got to make memories with my dad, some I’ll never forget.
My senior year of Highschool golf was full of ups and downs. I didn’t start off the year how I expected but I managed to get the ball rolling and got some good rounds in for state qualifying. I finally ended my Highschool career heading to state, placing 17th out of 18 in individual qualifying. I played very well the first day, shooting 76 (+4) through 18 holes , but day two started out rough. I shot 81 (+9) through 18 holes. Myself, along with my dad knew that I was one swing away from it being a good round, yet I couldn’t find it unfortunately. Overall, Im proud of myself for getting to state, and thankful for my coaches and of course my dad and mom, for always supporting me.
Now with the season over, I hope to show coaches my capability and the work i’ve put in. And hope to be apart of a program where I can grow and a person and a student athlete.
