I entered high school with one goal in mind, to make myself have as many college opportunities as possible. The primary focus of my high school career has been on academics, but during the course of high school I found another avenue for my passion, the sport of wrestling. Much of the success I have had on and off the mat are due to the lessons I have learned from wrestling, and because of this sport I have undergone tremendous personal growth. My freshman year, I entered the room as a nerdy, unskilled freshman who had previously wrestled but had left the sport due to other circumstances. My freshman year I mostly wrestled on the Junior Varsity level with moderate success but could not win a single varsity match out of the ones I had participated in. During my sophomore year, I made the varsity team at 160 pounds and had a record of 27-25 and did not qualify for the state tournament. Upon the conclusion of my Sophomore, my family and I had decided to transfer schools from Salpointe Catholic to Mountain View Marana in order to benefit my academic and athletic pursuits. Leading into my Junior season, I joined the Tucson cyclones Wrestling Club in order to make offseason improvements in my wrestling abilities; meanwhile,I had discovered a newfound fondness for the weight room and had bumped up to 195 pounds for my junior year. In my Junior year, I finished with a record of 31-11, qualified for the state tournament for the first time, and placed fifth.
Academically, I have challenged myself with difficult classes beginning with my freshman year all the way through my senior year. Once I finishe my senior year, I will have completed 10 AP class credits along with maintaining a GPA of 4.01. I am a tenacious student and challenge myself to learn and excel.
Character wise, I would describe myself as a humble leader who leads by example and is willing to help any member of the team. I would also describe myself as a hard working individual who appreciates the amount of work it takes to achieve my goals. With this, I am focused on constant improvement and always hungry for more.
