My name is Will Ziegler. I am a junior at Davis Senior High School (Class of 2019), and am academically and athletically focused.
Growing up, I played basketball, baseball and soccer competitively before focusing on golf. The experience and knowledge I gained from playing these sports taught me how to be a good teammate and gave me insight into how hard you have to work on your own and as a team to do your best and succeed. My work ethic in athletics is the same as my work ethic in academics. I have a 4.1 cumulative GPA throughout high school, and plan on attending an academically rigorous university.
Although I began golfing later than most of my competitors, commitment to the game and to practice has allowed me to compete with other junior golfers. I have the advantage of height, being 6’5,” and have recently begun lifting weights to gain strength and distance. Throughout the last year, my handicap has dropped from 12 to 5, and continues to trend downward. I believe my dedication on the course and in the gym will only lower my scores more, and I am determined to reach scratch before the beginning of my senior year.
My tournament highlights include a final round of 71 at Cherry Island Golf Course in the JGANC County Junior, in which I finished in solo third. I plan on playing in more JGANC and JTNC events, as well as working towards competing in FCWT and AJGA events, to gain tournament experience and give myself opportunities to succeed.
I am very dedicated to golf and academics, and will continue to focus and work hard in high school in order to be able to compete in college. I know my golf game will continue to improve and I can promise I will bring value to my team where ever I have the chance to play.
