ryan black '18 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to attend a high level academic institution where I will be challenged in and out of the classroom.  I have a very competitive driven personality which has led to success scholastically and athletically.  I know if a coach gives me a chance I will give give 110 percent and will dedicate myself to being the best student/athlete possible. 

I believe what sets me apart from other athletes is my overwhelming desire to compete and my athletic IQ.  The bigger the game, the more intense the moment, the more I enjoy playing.. I have always been able to perform in high pressure situations, whether it is an important putt on the golf course or putting my team ahead in the state semi final hockey game where I scored three goals in one period.  I think those moments are what have always set me apart. I also believe in sportsmanship and have won numerous awards.  Golf is a game of ethics.  Honesty and integrity matter more than anything.  I also think being humble is important.  Leadership isn't always the loudest voice in the room it is who sets the tone and works the hardest.  I have been a captain of both the golf and hockey team which I believe is a testament to my teammates respect for me.

Lastly  I have loved sports my whole life and hope I get the chance to compete at a higher level.
