My name is Ben Pirro, I am 16, and a Sophmore in high school. I have a 4.0 gpa and will graduate from Lake Mary Prep in 2017. Long Island was my home, where I lived with my older sister, brother, mom and dad for 13 years. There I grew-up, playing almost every sport, but my favorites are baseball, tennis and golf. During 7th and 8th grade at The Stonybrook School, I played varsity golf and tennis, and received scholar-athlete awards.
Two years ago, I moved to Florida, to play more golf. I want to be the best in the world. Now I train with Mike Bender and his team.Mike has taught me more, in the last year, than most people will learn in a lifetime. Every piece of my game continues to improve, and this has enabled me to become a stronger and more confident athlete. My index is a 1.0. We continually work on technique, test our skills and play at least 2 courses in the Orlando area each week. We also work on strength, fitness and mental conditioning.
I have had consistent tournament rounds this Fall in the mid-70's, from 7000 yds, on some of Florida's toughest golf courses. Many of my summer tournament rounds, in the Northeast, were around par. I love to compete and currently play on the Florida Junior Tour, the AJGA, the Met PGA, and the USGA.
I enjoy many other things, too. This past year I have been a peer tutor, part of student council and was a top 5 fund raiser in the country, for the AJGA birdies for charity program, raising over $8,000.00 for The Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation. I received the Presidential Award for academic excellence and was a finalist for the USGA's Presidents Award.
My favorite foods are pizza and Chinese, my favorite movie Caddy Shack, and One For The Ages is my favorite book. I am grateful for the support of my family, friends and coaches as I continue to pursue my dream.
