The game of golf changed for me when I started playing on a high school team. I have owned golf clubs and played golf for most of my life. I took lessons and enjoyed playing in local park district tournaments. It has always been my favorite sport. However, when I started playing in high school, the game changed from an individual sport to a team sport with an individual component. Being on the golf course during the summer is still my favorite place to be, but come fall high school season, that’s when everything changes. Instead of battling it out by myself hole after hole, it’s great having teammates on the course. We can celebrate each other’s great shots and pick each other up on the days when it didn’t go to plan. It doesn’t seem like an individual sport anymore.
As a result of this experience, I am not ready for it to end. To continue on this journey for another four years as a contributing member of a college golf team is my goal. I made the decision after my freshman season to do whatever I needed to in order to make this a possibility. My winters have been spent indoors taking lessons and using technology to improve my game. My summers have been spent on the course. My strong work-ethic and goal setting has been crucial for improving my game over the last few years. With this continued approach, I know I will be ready to contribute to a team! Thank you for your consideration!
