I have only been playing golf seriously for around a year, and in that time I have improved beyond recognition, and I intend on continuing to get better and better. I have begun to enter more and more competitive tournaments in order to gain high-level playing experience and show my ability in a tournament situation. My current handicap is 6.4, down from 16.4 just 5 months ago, and I am looking to continue the rapid improvement by working as hard as I can to get to 2 or better in the next six months or so. I have a desire to go professional after university, so the university golf in the US is perfect as it gives me the chance to continue playing at a very high level, whilst obtaining a quality education.
The strength of my game is undoubtedly my ball striking. I average a 7iron carry distance of 181, off an average of 101mph clubhead speed. I routinely carry my driver up past 290, with average total distance at 314, and average ball speed of 168mph. Over the course of the next few months, I intend to bring my putting and chipping up to that kind of level to be able to round off the qualities of my game.
As well as a dedicated athlete, I am also a very hard-working student. In my GCSE exams, the standardized test taken by everyone in the UK at 16, I got a clean sweep of A stars, the highest available mark. I then took the SAT on March 14th and got a 1490 (770m 720erw) which places me in the 99th percentile of all people who took the exam. I consider myself to be a high-level student amongst my peers, and so I wish to challenge myself in a strong academic environment. I want to leave my four years at university with a high-quality degree: one that will provide me with great opportunities in the future.
I may not yet be the finished product as a golfer, but I have huge potential and a swing which stacks up with anyone. I'm willing to work as hard as possible to improve and to get to the next level as a golfer. I am desperately hoping to be given the chance to prove it.
