Ever since I was old enough to swing, I have always had golf on my mind. My father introduced me to the amazing sport at a very young age, and ever since then it has been a huge part of my life. I was lucky enough to have parents that supported me and pushed me to be the best I could be, which helped my passion for golf grow into what it is today.
I first started playing golf competitively in the 8th grade, starting on varsity for the Monticello High School golf team. As the youngest on the team, I felt that I had to put in twice as much work as everyone else to prove I belonged there with all of the older players. Ever since that year, the mentality stuck with me and my hunger for excellence continued to increase with every round I played.
My 2017 season was one of my best in terms of growing as a competitor and as a person. I had some very good rounds and some that weren't so good, but what really put my game into perspective for me was our individual conference rankings at the end of the season, when I learned that I had missed all-conference by an average of 1/6 of a stroke, or one stroke total out of all the conference meets. This may put some players down, but it only inspired me to be even better the next year, because I knew if I was competing with some of the best players in our conference which is dominated by one of the best teams in the state, I had to be on the right track. I am happy to say, this 2018 season, I achieved my All Conference goal!
I am a very confident and passionate player who is determined to be great, and I know that those characteristics will bring me very far, both in golf and in life. I am determined to find a program that will allow me to grow as a student and as a competitive athlete.
