My interest in golf started around the age of ten when my dad would bring me with him out to the course. What I really enjoyed about golf in the early years was joy I felt when I would hit the ball and see the result that came. Fortunately my dad recognized that I had a very natural and fluid swing and kept encouraging me to practice and improve.
I really got motivated to improve my game when I got the opportunity to get lessons from a local former golf professional, Mark Nelson. Without the help of Mark I believe that I would not have been at the skill level I‘m at now. Some of the things that I have learned from Mark are being self aware of issues effecting my swing, where my eyes and head are positioned, to the striking of the ball. When issues arise I am very self motivated to fix and correct them. The desire to improve my game lead to me receiving “Most Improved” award my freshman year of varsity golf. When the Covid Pandemic arose my sophomore year my golf year was cut short it negatively affected my golf game from having no practice to playing in any high school matches. When I started my junior year I felt my golf game was not as good as it could have been. Realizing that I sought out the help of my coaches and Mark, they gave me the encouragement to push my golf game to the next level. Ive dedicated a majority of my summer playing and practicing golf which has resulted to improvements beyond my initial expectations and these results have motivated me into playing at the collegiate level.
