August 2019One of the biggest aspirations I have is to pursue golf and business in college. I came to US when I was 7 and didn't speak the language, yet that never stopped me from becoming one of the best debaters in the Model UN circuit. I would sit in front of the mirror and repeat my "Hi, my name is..." for hours on end to prove to people that not only can I just become a good speaker, but a powerful and eloquent speaker as well . Through perseverance, I was able to capture the best possible award you can achieve in an international debate competition. Golf is the same exact way in the sense that I have never let me starting so late ever been a detriment. The game has given me so much and every single day serves constant improvement. As I play in more tournaments, I am slowly learning the small things that make such a big difference. A great example can be how I realized how important it is to play in practice rounds. Often times I would shoot terrible the first day, and then in the high 70s or low 80s the next day - a thread that is common in almost every tournament that I compete in. Despite starting off bad, I simply refuse to quit and instead come out the next day firing on all cylinders. Incidents like these are just small sample sizes of my character. Looking back at where I started and where I am now, if there is anything that separates me from other recruits is that the best of me is yet to come. I haven't reached my peak or come anywhere close to that and that prospect simply excites me. I view myself as a developing player yet to reach his prime, but willing to put in the time and effort to make it possible - all I simply need is the chance.
