I play golf because I love the sport, not for an end goal. Therefore, I pursue golf with honesty and clarity. I see my college experience as an opportunity to grow as a person, and an intellectual, collegiate golf facilitates that immensely. Thankfully, Horace Mann has taught me not only to commit to my academics but also to passions outside of school. I am driven to excel both academically and athletically, and I have learned to balance both of those driving forces. I see golf in the same way I see school interests, such as art history and political science; they all require mindfulness and focus. Much like these subjects, golf, for me, is another way to grow into a more well-rounded person. That being said, I am always driven to excel and become a better player. My high school life has taught me to adhere to all of my commitments with complete effort. Thus, I feel I am different from other recruits because I strive to perform athletically with the same rigor and passion that I put into my school work.
