Michael Schaal '23 Recruiting Profile

Coach,

  I have played tournament golf for 4 years and love being a part of this game.  My goal is to compete at the next level as a Collegiate student athlete.  When I started playing competitively, I felt behind most of the players my age.  Many had been playing for several years more than me.  I learned quickly and worked hard to develop and improve my game.  At 6'3" and 160lbs, my game has changed and grown immensely.  I am strong and consistent off the tee with a fairways hit percentage of 70%.  I am also solid on the green with an average of 27 putts per round.  This past year I have felt all aspects of my game becoming more fluid and consistent.  I recently took first overall at the 12th annual Grandover "Griffin Junior Amateur".  My scores have shown the steady improvement and growth because I continue to put in the work and  take advantage of the coaching I receive. 

I attend Carolina Friends, a Quaker school in Durham, NC.  They use a narrative reporting system not a standard grading system.  My GPA is estimated at 3.6.  I have been a hard working and dedicated student which benefits me in the classroom and the golf courses.  I have great relationships with my teachers and fellow students.  I am always looking for a chance to learn more and improve in whatever task is in front of me.  I will bring this dedication, willingness to learn, enthusiasm for the game and competitive mindset wherever I go.  I am confident I would make an excellent addition to your golf program both athletically and academically.
