Personal Statement

My goal is to pursue a degree in Sports Management or Business and be an outstanding Student Athlete. I look forward to playing golf in college and use my team leader skills to help better whatever school I may choose. I have always been a 3-sport athlete until after my freshmen year. I am currently focusing on my academics, golf and baseball skills. I have played travel baseball for an elite team-IVL-Grissom as well have played in a variety of Golf Tournaments. I do not have an AGJA ranking because the schedules between golf and travel baseball made it difficult. Please reach out to me or my Golf Coach with any questions.

Suburban League Conference Tournament #4

The BHS Golf Team finished strong at the Suburban League Golf Tournament on Thursday. The Magics finished 7th out of eight teams. Scoring for the Magics were Marcos Silva (73), Cole Macko (81), Vincent Wieland (91), Maverick Oktela (89), Colin Nichols (89) and Tony Arthur (100). Marco Silva finished tied for second for medalist honors in the American Conference.

The BHS Golf Team had a strong showing in the Suburban League Tournament at Windmill Lakes on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. The team scored a 331, which was only 14 shots behind the first place score. Leading the way was Marco Silva, who captured co-medalist honors with a round of 71 (+1). Silva had 3 birdies and 4 bogeys on the day. Cole Macko had a solid 77, including 2 birdies of his own. Collin Nichols birdied his final hole to finish with a 91. Finishing our the scoring for the Magics were Vincent Wieland, 92, Tony Arthur, 92, and Maverick Oktela, 95.

Congratulations to BHS Senior Golfers Cole Macko and Marco Silva on being selected as the BHS Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Jersey Mike’s Subs. Cole and Marco have been playing some of their best golf of their HS careers as they have been leading the Magics Golf Team for Coach Kaser. Some of their top performances include winning the Griffiths’s Cup, a strong showing at the Yank Heisler Tournament where Marco took medalist honors there and also at the 2nd Suburban Conference Tournament at Club Walden. They both also helped in a dual match win over Tallmadge where Marco shot a 36 and Cole a 38.

The Magics Golf Team lost to Norton on Thursday, August 29, 2024 by a score of 152-161 at Spring Hills Golf Club. Marco Silva had 8 pars and a birdie for a 34(-1). Cole Macko finished with a 41. Vincent Wieland had a birdie and finished with a 42 while Maverick Oktela contributed a 44. Also scoring for the Magics were Tony Arthur (47) and Collin Nichols (48).

The Magics Golf Team took the victory over Tallmadge at home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Playing the back 9 at Pine Valley the team picked up their first head-to-head win of the season, 164-180. The win improved their record to 1-1. Shooting an even par round of 36 was Marco Silva, Cole Macko was a close second with a 38, Vincent Wieland with a solid 43, Collin Nichols (47) and Tony Arthur and Maverick Okela with a pair of 48’s.

The BHS Varsity Golf team participated in the Nordonia Classic on August 20, 2024 at Ellsworth Meadows Golf Course. Leading the team was Marco Silva with a score of 75 (+4). That placed him 4th overall out of 88 golfers. Other scores included Cole Macko with an 80, Maverick Oktela, 89, Collin Nichols 92 and Tony Arthur with a 95. The team finished in 7th place out of 18 teams.

The Magics Golf Team was at Walden CC for the Suburban League Tournament on Monday, August 12, 2024. The team finished sixth on the American Conference side with a team score of 346. Congratulations to Marco Silva who was co-medalist for the tournament with a score of 76. Scoring for the Magics was Marco Silva (76), Cole Macko (84), Vincent Wieland (92), Maverick Oktela (96), Tony Arthur (94) and Braylon Trout (102).

The BHS Golf Team had a strong showing at the Yank Heisler Golf Tournament on Thursday, August 8, 2024. The team placed 16th out of 25 teams with a team score of 349. Scoring for the Magics were Marco Silva (71 which was +1 for the course), Cole Macko (77), Tony Arthur (97) Braylon Trout (104) and Maverick Oktela (106). Highlights for the Magics from the tournament were Marco Silva taking medalist honors out of 125 golfers and Cole Macko playing one of his best tournaments ever with twelve pars. Congratulations to the team on the strong showing. Go Magics!

The BHS Golf Team participated in the first Suburban League Meet of the season at Pine Hills GC on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. The Magics took 7th place (Team Score = 345) on the day. Scoring for the Magics were Marco Silva (71), Cole Macko (88), Vincent Weiland (95), Maverick Oktela (91), Tony Arthur (100) and Braylon Trout (110). Marco Silva finished 2nd overall on the American Conference side as the medalist scored a 67.

Marco Silva ended his 2023 season at Pine Hills GC in the 2023 OHSAA DI District Golf Tournament. His final score for the day was an 85 that included three birdies. This was the second year in a row that Marco advanced out of the Sectional Tournament to the District Tournament. Congratulations to Marco Silva and Coach Kaser on an outstanding season and looking forward to a great senior season of golf. Go Magics!

BOYS VARSITY GOLF · OCT 4 Magics Golf Team Advances One Out of OHSAA DI Sectional Tournament – Marco Silva The BHS Golf Team competed at the OHSAA DI Sectional Tournament on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at GoodPark GC. While the team did not advance to Districts, Marco Silva is moving on as an individual. The team shot a 362 and finished in 12th place out of 16 teams. Cole Macko shot an 88, Devin Miller finished his high school golf career with a 94, Maverick Oktela added a 102 and Christian shot a 112. Marco Silva finished tied for 10th place with a 78(+7) and will move on as the second individual from our Sectional. He began on the back 9 and was 2-under after the first 5 holes. He battled the rest of the way to finish the day with two birdies and 9 pars on his round.

Magics at Suburban League Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 28, 2023 – Update The Magics Golf Team was at the final Suburban League Golf Tournament of the season on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at GoodPark GC. The team finished in fifth place out of eight teams with a team score of 342. Scoring for the Magics were Marco Silva (75), Cole Macko (88), Devin Miller (86), Maverick Oktela (93), Christian White (107) and Tony Arthur (113). Marco Silva’s 75 was the third lowest score in the American Conference side and fifth lowest overall on the day. Big day for the varsity at GoodPark Golf Course on Thursday. The day started off kind of cool and they had to play through a little rain, but they showed up ready to go. The team finished 5th out of 8 in the Suburban League American conference with a team score of 342. That’s our lowest Suburban League Tournament total in at least the last 11 years. Contributing team scores were Marco Silva (75), Devin Miller (86), Cole Macko (88), and Maverick Oktela (93). Marco, with his 75 average, placed 2nd individually in the conference for the season.

The BHS Golf Team was victorious on Senior Day over Firestone by a score of 174-218. The 2023 Magics seniors, Devin Miller and Anthony Bond, shot 48 and 55 respectively. The team was led by Marco Silva who shot 2 under par and finished with a 34. Right behind him was Cole Macko with a 39. Finishing out the scoring for the team was Maverick Oktela with a 53.

The BHS Golf Team lost by a single shot to Revere, 180-179 on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Pine Valley GC. Marco Silva led the way with three birdies, shooting a 36. Cole Macko had a strong round, shooting a 42. Finishing the team scoring was Maverick Oktela with a 50 and Anthony Bond with a 52.

The BHS Varsity Golf Team finished sixth in the third Suburban League Golf Tournament of the season on Monday, September 11, 2023. The tournament was played at the Windmill Lakes GC, which is one of the tougher courses around the area. The Magics played well and finished with a team score of 367. This was 4 shots better than their previous tournament best this season. They were led by Marco Silva, who finished tied for 4th place as an individual (76). Cole Macko had his best tournament in league play this year with an 82, good enough to finish tied for 11th place as an individual. Also scoring for the Magics were Maverick Oktela (105), Tony Arthur (108), and Christian White (111).

The BHS Golf Team lost a well-played match to Tallmadge on Thursday, September 7, 2023 by a score of 156-166. Both teams played very well. Scoring for the Magics were Marco Silva (36), Cole Macko (40), Devin Miller (45) and Maverick Oktela (45). Marco Silva and Cole Macko each had one birdie. The team will be a Windmill Lakes GC on Monday, September 11, 2023 in the third Suburban League Tournament of the season.

BHS Golf Team Wins Tri-Match at Windmill Lakes GC Medalist The BHS Varsity Golf Team won their tri-match against Ravenna and Austintown Fitch. The final score was 168-251-183. The Magics played at Windmill Lakes GC and were led by Marco Silva with a 39 (+4), Maverick Oktela 41 (+6), Cole Macko 43 and Devin Miller 45. Christian White and Tony Arthur posted matching 51’s. Maverick Oktela scored a personal record in the match, helped by 2 birdies. The team is now 5-1 in head to head matches. The team will face Tallmadge on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

The BHS Varsity Golf Team travelled to Fairlawn Country Club on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 against Revere. The team lost 170-199. Marco Silva had the team low score and was the medalist with a score of 40. Cole Macko also contributed with a 45. The loss drops their record to 3-1 on the season in head to head matches.

The BHS Boys’ Varsity Golf Team won their tri-match against Copley and Cuyahoga Falls on Monday, August 28, 2023 to improve their head-to-head record to 3-0. Leading the Magics was Cole Macko with a 1-over par score of 37. He had 2 birdies enroute to shooting his personal best 9-hole score. Right behind Cole was Marco Silva with a 38, also making 2 birdies. Devin Miller added a 45 and Christian White shot his personal best of 49. First year players Tony Arthur and Maverick Oktela had great rounds of 50 and 53, respectively. The team had their best all-around performance of the season.

Tied for 1st in the American Division of the Conference and T-2 overall the 16 team Conference.......The Magics Golf Team played in the second Suburban League Tournament of the season at Pleasant Valley GC on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. The course is a par 72 playing around 6500 yards. The team finished tied for 6th with a score of 375. The team was led by Marco Silva (74), Devin Miller (88), Cole Macko (94), Maverick Oktela (119) and Tony Arthur (119). Silva’s score tied him for first place as an individual in the American Conference and second place in all of the Suburban League.

Shot an even par 36. Finalist Medalist. The Magics Golf Team beat Ellet in the season’s first dual match. The final was 184-203. The teams played the front 9 at Pine Valley. Marco Silva set the pace with an even par (36). He carded a single bogey and a single birdie. Cole Macko had a solid score of a 42, Devin Miller (51), and Maverick Oktela (55). Next week the team will head to Pleasant Valley to compete in the Suburban League’s second tournament of the season.

BHS Golfers at Nordonia Classic on Tuesday at Ellsworth Meadows The Magics Golf Team participated in the Nordonia Classic on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Ellsworth Meadows. The team had a team score of 357 for the day finishing fourteenth out of eighteen teams. This year’s team score was 12 shots better than the same tournament last season. Scoring for the Magics were Marco Silva (T-12 finish) shooting a 78, Cole Macko (finished T-23) with an 81, Devin Miller (92) and Maverick Oktela (106).

The Magics had a team score of 369 for the day. The 24 teams includes most of the top schools in Northeast Ohio and other surrounding areas. There were a total of 120 golfers in the tournament. Marco Silva finished T-12 (77), 6 shots behind the medalist. Devin Miller was T-59 (84). Cole Macko scored a 86. The team played well under tough conditions.

The Magics finished 13th out of 26 teams on the day. Individually, Marco Silva finished T-3 with a 77 (+7). Rounding out the scoring for the Magics were Cole Macko (84), Devin Miller (89) and Maverick Oktela (105). Maverick Oktela had his first varsity birdie and both Cole Macko and Marco Silva birdied hole 1.

The Magics and the other ten teams had to battle rainy weather conditions most of the day. The team finished in seventh place with a team score of 405. The Magics were led by Marco Silva (78) and Cole Macko (92). Marco Silva finished in 3rd place for individual scores. The Magics will be at Pine Hills GC for the first Suburban League Golf Tournament of the season on Tuesday.

Magics Golf Team Starts Season at the Griffiths Cup – Take Fourth Place The BHS Golf Team started their 2023 season at the Griffith’s Cup at Spring Hills GC on Friday, August 4, 2023. The Magics took 4th with a team score of 337. Marco Silva finished in second place as an individual by shooting an even par 70 (eagle, 3 birdies), Cole Macko had a 78 (4 birdies), Devin Miller 87, Maverick Oktela 102, and Christian White 107 (birdie). A huge thank you to Spring Hills Golf Course, the owner, and all the volunteers who put on this tournament at no cost to the schools.
