Personal Statement
My name is Nate Beck. I am a senior at Mazama High School in Klamath Falls, Oregon. As a freshman, I helped lead my golf team to the state tournament for the first time ever where we placed fifth as a team. As an individual, I placed third in the regional qualifier. I followed that up by taking sixth as an individual at the state tournament. As a sophomore, I struggled in the state tournament shooting an 83 the first day, and a 79 the second day. This past high school season, I took first at districts and fifth at state. I have always loved playing golf, and have been participating in Oregon Junior Golf tournaments since I was 8 years old. I am a very coachable player, I take direction and feedback well, and apply my coach's input to my all around game. My goal is to play golf in college, and I set myself apart from other recruits by my positive attitude and a hard work ethic. I continue to set high goals for myself, both athletically and academically, so I will always have something to strive for. During my first three years of high school I have managed to maintain a 3.5+ GPA while playing 2 sports. As the quarterback of our varsity football team, I have had to develop leadership skills to help lead my team into the playoffs last year and hope to go all the way to state this year. As a teammate, I will display good sportsmanship and a positive attitude. I believe that participating in college golf will not only better me as a golfer, but as a person as well. Thank you for your time.
